So, this one is 1095 steel.
Forged in my home made forge.
Shaped, ground and sharpened. Scales fitted 2 times as I failed at the heat treat the first time.
Unfortunately, it was not realized until I tried to put the final edge on the blade.
It is unique to my brother. The dark wood in the scales is from wood gathered in his barn. The lighter wood was gathered from above the tree line on the way to Uncompahgre's peak. It smells soooo good. It is either cedar or sage.
Proof that wood is migratory!
This is one of my favorites.
