My First Knife

  Yes... Knife making.

Oh I have found a new love... correction, another new love.

Knife making was something new and fresh.

Kate introduced me to this wonderful pastime by buying me my first knife kit. It was a great kit and a super way to be introduced to this world. This staring point was a great entry point as it focused on making the scales (handles) and assembly. It did not test my skill and patients because I did not need to forge, heat treat, grind or worry about some of the more intricate details of a true knife build... yet.

Because something completely new is not a big enough challenge, I had to step it up and add contracting walnut spacers next to the blade. Not part of the "kit" but I love the look.

This was the start of some thing wonderful.

Thank you Kate for this introduction. Sorry for all the hours it has left you solo on the couch and all the hours that it will leave you a want-to-be knife workers widow.
